Putting it in Perspective

As I sit here, sipping my Arnold Palmer at the laundry mat wishing I didn't have to do laundry...AGAIN, I can't help but also be grateful.

There are people all over the world that have to spend their Sunday evening doing far worse things. From the parents in Connecticut mourning to the parents in third world countries watching their children go hungry, and many others in between. They all have worse days ahead than I could ever understand.

It makes me wish I could do more than sit on the side lines and read about their strifes. Yes, giving canned goods helps, but I want to do more.

I have a lifelong plan of helping others and doing good in the world that I will put into action every chance I get.

I know I am only one person and I may only be able to do so much, but I'm going to do it anyways!

Having said all that, I'm grateful that I have to wash clothes tonight. Also, I'm grateful I have the means to do so.

Christmas in July

It's not what you're thinking...I'm not shopping, or putting up Christmas decorations in the middle of summer! I did, however,  wake up with one of my favorite Christmas carols in my head this morning, and it stuck with me all day. Are you ready?...

"Jingle bells.
Batman smells.
Robin laid an egg.
Batmobile lost it's wheel, and the Joker got away!"

Ha! I seriously could not get it out of my head. I am going out on a limb here,  and saying it is due to my intense excitement for the release of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. Oh, and my fondness of the holiday season!   :)

It's funny how the brain works, isn't it?

Oh, and just in case you haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the new trailer for Dark Knight Rises:

Wishful Thinking

Polaroid Syndrome

Nothing else in life really happens instantly like polaroid film...And, really, even with polaroid, you still have to wait about 30 seconds. Yes, we all want it, and we want it now. I believe that if you really want something, you can make it happen. I also believe that it takes time AND hard work. In a society where we expect things to be given to us instantaneously, how do we reteach ourselves to get back in the groove of slowing our pace? And, working for what we believe we are entitled to? Entitlement is a dangerous, slippery slope. If we don't correct it, we will most likely be spoon fed what we THINK we need until we are completely incapable of doing for ourselves what we ACTUALLY need...Just a thought.
